Why is Claire, The Form Practice Founder so particular about what products she uses on her skin?
After having a cervical cancer scare in my early 30’s when I was diagnosed with cervical dysplasia stage 3 and told I needed urgent surgery. I set about doing a lot of research on how to heal myself, after MUCH reading I decided to take my health into my own hands and opted to heal naturally. This included a total overhaul of my diet, lifestyle and the products in my home and on my skin. Happily for me I was able to reverse the dysplasia completely in just over 5 months. and natural products are an every day part of my life now.
Having tried many options over the years for skin care that aligned with my main requirement of being health for me and for my planet, I eventually came to find Tropic and have never looked back. I don’t exclusively use Tropic but I do use many of their products and their makeup too, I often give it away as Christmas and Birthday presents too.
What is the deal with regular products and your health?
Well frankly the chemical industry is a dirty world, driven by profit over all else. There are thousands of new chemicals being put in our skin care every year, that poor long term testing on the side effects for us and for our planet. I would not dream of buying most of the products in mainstream shops these days. Plus I don’t have the time to be researching every single new ingredient that appears in these products either. Many of these dirty chemicals are used for preserving products but with Tropic, everything is fresh and so has a relatively short shelf life. My general rule of thumb is if you can’t eat it then you shouldn’t be putting it on your skin either.
What’s the deal with skin?
Skin is our biggest organ of detoxification, it’s also highly absorbent. Did you know that if you out a drop of peppermint essential oil on the souls of your feet, you will be able to taste it with in just a few seconds? What ever it is that is on our skin, is absorbed and then it’s our liver’s job to process it all. Many of these chemicals wreak havoc with our hormonal system because they mimic hormones.
