Sadia Awan

Before becoming an osteopath

Before becoming an osteopath, Sadia spent several years working in complex care, supporting individuals with profound and multiple learning difficulties, including chromosome abnormalities, Down’s syndrome, cerebral palsy, epilepsy and significant mobility challenges.

These experiences shaped the practitioner she is today. Learning to communicate without words taught Sadia the importance of careful observation, patience, trust and adapting care to each individual in each moment. It showed her that healthcare is not only about addressing symptoms, but about understanding the person experiencing them. This experience deepened Sadia’s curiosity about the human body and the many ways it adapts. She became fascinated by the relationship between movement, function and wellbeing, which naturally led her towards osteopathy.

Osteopathic training and interests

Sadia studied at Health Sciences University (HSU), formerly the British School of Osteopathy, where she developed her skills in osteopathic assessment, clinical reasoning, hands-on treatment and patient care. Alongside her training, she completed a Sports Massage qualification, further developing her understanding of palpation, soft tissue techniques and the role of touch within healthcare. Sadia is naturally curious about the stories people bring with them and how these experiences shape the way they move, feel and interact with their bodies.
She believes that each person’s presentation is influenced by a unique combination of physical experiences, lifestyle and circumstances, and enjoys exploring these connections with her patients. Her clinical interests include women’s health, breathing mechanics and neurorehabilitation. Her dissertation explored the role of osteopathy within neurorehabilitation and long-term support, building on her previous experience in complex care and her interest in the body’s ability to adapt through different stages of life. Sadia is passionate about lifelong learning and continuing to develop as an osteopath, with a commitment to providing thoughtful, individualised care that helps patients feel more connected, confident and supported in their own bodies.
